Labor relations in Uruguay
Changes, continuities and challenges for the future of work

The purpose of this article is to reflect from the perspective of the sociology of work on the changes at work and, more specifically, the repercussions on the labor relations system, based on the experience of the pandemic. In Uruguay this assumes a particular nuance due to the simultaneous change of government, which implied a shift to the right. The article proposes an analysis of the decisions assumed by the actors in relation to the different stages of this process, including the post-pandemic and its repercussions in terms of labor relations. Based on this, it seeks to identify the aspects that define the new configuration of the labor relations system for the third year of the new government, which is achieved by identifying some emerging topics, as well as analyzing the strengths and weaknesses of the labor relations system. labor relations in the face of the crisis, opening a reflection on the transformation of work and its future.
