About the Journal
The Revista de Ciencias Sociales is a peer review academic publication, that publishes original research articles in social sciences, priority in sociology. It seeks for innovative, methodological and theoretical development, as well as an original empirical evidence on issues of national, regional and international interest related to these disciplines.
The Revista de Ciencias Sociales is published by the Department of Sociology, Faculty of Social Sciences of the University of the Republic of Uruguay.
It is heir to the Revista de Ciencias Sociales that appeared from 1971 to 1973. With the return of democracy in 1985, it began its Second Age, with the name of Social Science Journal. It began to be a peer reviewed journal in 1986 and went on to have external evaluation in 2000. Since 2024 became a continuous publication, maintaining two annual issues (January-June and July-December)
The Revista de Ciencias Sociales has an online version of open access, and is aimed at academics, researchers and professionals in the disciplines of sociology and other social sciences. It has a section of research papers and another section of reviews and essays, as well as non-arbitrated contributions of interest to academics and discipline.
Partial or total reproduction of articles published here is allowed, provided the source is mentioned. The Journal of Social Sciences is part of a set of initiatives that promote free access to knowledge, so all its contents are freely available and free and are published under the Creative Commons CC BY SA license (see https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0/).
