Abstract

his article aims to study the place of equality as a concept in Spinoza’s political philosophy. In
the first place, it describes the way in which human nature is understood by Spinoza, recounting both the horizon of the natural state and the social state in which it unfolds. Second, it studies inequality manifested as affect, even so Spinoza himself has not named it this way anywhere in the Ethics. Finally, then, it outlines the way in which the political institutions that make up the State are related to the concept of equality.
